◆besides为介词,意为“除了……以外(还)”,其后内容包括在整体之内。后加名词或代词作介词宾语。
【辨析】besides,except
(1)besides为介词,意为“除……之外(还)”,表示“追加”关系,即整体中包括了“除去”的部分。
(2)except也用作介词,意为“除了……”,表示“剔除”关系,即整体中不包括“除去”的部分。
◆twice意为“两次”,相当于two times。对句中的twice提问应用how many times,对句中的twice a week提问应用how often。

◆start在此处为及物动词,意为“开始”,后面可接名词、动词不定式或v.-ing形式。start doing sth.意为“开始做某事”,与start to do sth.意思相同。
